Carbs
Bad carbs are foods that have been processed such as flour, refined sugar, and white rice. You can digest these carbs faster but they can cause rise in sugar that cause to weight gain. Since this year started, I eat brown rice a lot. I have white rice in some occasions. White rice is not good for us.
Good carbs can be found whole grains, beans, fruits, and vegetables, which also offer lots of additional health benefits, including heart disease and cancer prevention. They can’t be digested as easily. And it keeps your sugar and insulin levels on balance.

Burning calories
1.Take the escalator but climb the stairs while you ride. Just 5 minutes of stair climbing burns 144 calories.
2. Instead of piling items on the stairs so you can take them upstairs at once, take them one at a time.
3. When cooling your heels while waiting in a doctor's office, tore, or airport, stay on your feet standing burns 36 more calories per hour than sitting.
4. Rake leaves instead of using a leaf blower. You'll burn 50 more calories every half hour.
5. Scrub your floors more often. Putting some elbow grease into cleaning floors is more intense than vacuuming and it makes your floors look better to boot.
6. Chew sugarless gum. Research has found that the action of jaw muscles alone burns about 11 calories an hour.
7. Wash your car by hand instead of taking it through the automatic car wash place. You'll burn an extra 280 calories in an hour.
8. Play with kids: Impromptu games of basketball, touch football, or tag -- or just jumping rope or throwing a ball -- will help you use energy and set a good example of active play for the children. Calories burned: 80 to 137 every 10 minutes.

Healthy beverage
1. Light yogurt and fruit smoothie. Creamy and sweet, high in calcium and only 174 calories per cup.
2. Tomato juice - contains beta carotene and lycopene
3. Organic soda that doesn’t contain high fructose. I get this kind of Soda from Safeway sometimes. The brand is O- Organics. They taste really good. They are fruit-flavored soda. No caffeine at all. It is organic. But it is best to avoid any kind of soda because carbonation affects the stomach. However, carbonation and phosphoric acid in the soda can cause calcium loss in the bones.
4. Apple cider. I love apple cider.
5. Tea or coffee, unsweetened.

FPIES

What is FPIES? Studies found out that rice can cause a form of gut inflammation in some infants. This is called, food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome or FPIES. It is an inflammatory reaction of the digestive system to certain food proteins such as cow's milk, soy, meat and grains. Infants with this syndrome will suffer vomiting and diarrhea within roughly 2 hours of eating those food proteins. Australian researchers found that over 16 years, 14 children came to their hospital with FPIES. Rice remains a hypoallergenic food and it is first recommended as the first solid for infants. Be aware of this syndrome.

dealing with emotions
Recognize your emotions and trace the root cause. Sort out the causes of sadness, stress and anxiety in your life. These are the following helpful tips:
Express your feelings in appropriate ways. If feelings of stress, sadness or anxiety are causing physical problems, keeping these feelings inside can make you feel worse. It’s OK to let your loved ones know when something is bothering you. Sometimes, we tend to displace our emotions so bad. More often, we use any escapes to deal with our emotions. We have to face our emotions and feel it. Share it with God.
Live a balanced life. Try not to obsess about the problems at work, school or home that lead to negative feelings. This doesn’t mean you have to pretend to be happy when you feel stressed, anxious or upset. It’s important to deal with these negative feelings, but try to focus on the positive things in your life too. You may want to use a journal to keep track of things that make you feel happy or peaceful. Some research has shown that having a positive outlook can improve your quality of life and give your health a boost. You may also need to find ways to let go of some things in your life that make you feel stressed and overwhelmed. Make time for things you enjoy.
Calm your mind and body. Relaxation methods, such as meditation, are useful ways to bring your emotions into balance. Meditation is a form of guided thought. It can take many forms. For example, you may do it by exercising, stretching or breathing deeply. Ask your family doctor for advice about relaxation methods.
Take care of yourself. To have good emotional health, it’s important to take care of your body by having a regular routine for eating healthy meals, getting enough sleep and exercising to relieve pent-up tension. Avoid overeating and don’t abuse drugs or alcohol. Using drugs or alcohol just causes other problems, such as family and health problems.

Chew gum and recovered faster from Surgery
Surgeons have discovered chewing gums can help patients recover from colon surgery faster. Gum juice may actually fuel up gut hormones and pancreatic secretions. They made an analysis of five studies with a total of 158 patients. These patients (who had surgery) improved from colon surgery that chewed sugarless gum three times a day for five to 45 minutes while others didn’t chew any gums at all. The patients who chewed gum had recovered faster while the patients who did not chew gum stayed more days to recover from the surgery. The sugarless gum has artificial sweetener called Sorbitol and is know to have a laxative effect. This sounds sensible. This might really work. I guess, whenever I have constipation, I'll try to chew gum. Let's see what the effect is.
