Tofurky vegetarian roast

Are you ready for "Thanksgiving day"? We are ready for the holiday. We are going to have a Tofurky vegetarian roast. You might be wondering what Tofurky is. Tofurky is a meat substitute that is round in shape and stuffed with herbs, mushrooms and wild rice. It also comes with cranberry-apple potato dumplings, delicious gravy and a "wishbone" meatless jerky. Since we are vegetarian, we prefer to have Tofurky for Thanksgiving day. It has been a traditional food for vegans and vegetarians on holidays and occasions. It is made of seitan or wheat gluten and organic tofu. You can find Tofurky in different meatless products such as deli slices like fake ham, turkey etc., sausages, franks, and jerky. You can find Tofurky at healthy food grocery stores like Wholefoods.

Minestrone and Vegetables Salad for dinner

Tonight, I am going to cook minestrone soup and make vegetables salad for our dinner. Sounds good to you? My husband is suffering from heartburn for a couple of days now. I hope he will feel better soon. We will just have a light meal tonight. I am kinda craving for vegetable curry. But I don’t want to make a big mess in the kitchen tonight. I am kinda craving for seafood too. Oh boy, all I think right now is food . I’m just bored – I guess. Lol I better cook now. I am getting hungry.

Grilled Sandwich

So, we went to Corvette Diner today. The restaurant is something new to me. It was like in Vegas theme - considering the 50's diner. I had fun with my friends. Actually, they are my friends from the church. I ordered veggie sandwich (as usual), which has grilled mushroom (my favorites!), tomatoes, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, onions and eggplant. The sandwich came with fries. I actually did like the ranch sauce for the fries. Check out the photo below. Yummy!

Bad Ingredients

This is a list of bad ingredients that I searched in the net. I did not really care and know about bad ingredients especially in foods. As long as the taste is good, so here I go! haha. It was my husband who educated me with these things. My husband is really meticulous about ingredients and if he sees some bad ingredients, he would say " These are crap, junk, and garbage". haha I would just laugh. I thought the statement was funny. So here is the list:

1. Sodium nitrite (causes cancer)

2. MSG / monosodium glutamate / yeast extract (causes obesity and nerve damage)

3. Hydrogenated oils (causes heart disease)

4. High-fructose corn syrup / sugar / sucrose (causes diabetes and obesity)

5. Artificial colors (causes behavioral disorders)

6. Aspartame (causes brain damage, optic nerve damage)

7. Homogenized milk fats (cause heart disease and cardiovascular disorders)

8. Red meat (absolutely no beef, pork, or other red meat)

9. Cows' milk, cheese and dairy products

10. Soft drinks, junk foods, snack foods or fast foods

11. Processed foods such as cookies, crackers, frozen dinners, etc.

12. Fried foods

13. White flour and any foods containing white flour

14. Refined carbohydrates such as breads, cereals, pastries, pizza dough, etc.

15. Fruit juice drinks

16. Brand-name laundry detergents (loaded with toxic fragrance chemicals)

17. Popular deodorants (contain aluminum)

18. Fluoride toothpaste (fluoride is a dangerous ingredient)

19. Popular shampoos / soaps / conditioners

Take note of these ingredients. Health is Wealth!

Quinoa

I had Quinoa yesterday. My husband and I just love it. Our friend introduced it to us. Quinoa is an ancient crop that grows in poor soil, dry climates and even mountain altitudes. A quinoa grain is flat and has a pointed oval shape. It is grown as a crop primarily for its edible seeds. The grains exist is several colorations, including yellow, red, brown and black. When cooked, quinoa expands to about three or four times its size. It also has a unique texture, smooth and creamy and the tail of the grain has a crunchy texture. When preparing quinoa, you should rinse it first to remove any powdery residue. The simplest way to do this is to place the grains in a strainer and rinse until the water runs clear. It is a complete protein-with an essential amino acid balance.

Mushrooms

I am going to make stirfry mushroom with lots of garlic for lunch today. I just love mushroom, just like “The Mario Bros.” haha. Talking about mushrooms, it is shown to decrease any body inflammations and is good for our skin. Thus, it has an anti-aging effect to our skin. They contain antioxidants that block proteins and give chemical exfoliation that has a lightening effect on age spots and discoloration. It makes your skin glow over time. I don’t have a perfect skin but I just want to delay the aging of my skin. Haha I can’t wait to have my lunch today.

second year anniversary

It was a nice day off yesterday. Me and my husband got our day off at the same time. Thanks to God. So we can celebrate our second year anniversary of our marriage. We went to get some things at the store. We went to Mexico to get a back massage. It was a nice massage but the best massage I ever had in my life was in the Philippines. I forgot what the name of the massage place. But I remember it was very good and affordable at Php 250. I knew it was in Fuente OsmeƱa, Cebu City.

Then, we checked out this very nice vegetarian and organic food store in Ocean Beach here in San Diego Country. It is called People's Organic Foods Market. We really like that store as being vegetarians. So, we got some pizza crusts and some ingredients. They are all organic. We are going to make pizza tomorrow. I am sure, it is going to be fun. I will post the result of our pizza here later. Watch out!!
