Studio Ghibli

I like Japanese Animation. It is sharp and very detailed. One of the Japanese Animations that I love is Hayao Miyasaki's (Studio Ghibli) creations. I really love Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, and more. The first Studio Ghibli I saw was "My Princess Mononoke". I was amazed by the creativity of the story and the animation. And then, me and my husband started collecting Studio Ghibli's . I embedded a video from you tube-- preview of Howl's Moving Castle. Christian Bale was one of the voices of that movie. Check out the video:

Tropic Thunder

We watched "Tropic Thunder" at the drive-in theater last night. It is starred by Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey, Jr. We wish we didn't watch that movie. We stayed up late. The movie was just "OK". It wasn't a big deal. It has silly, corny and obscene jokes as it is rated R. The movie has no moral story or ending. I like Ben Stiller and Jack Black but this movie is one of their crappy movies. But this movie might be good to some people. It depends on your preference.

Mamma Mia!

We watched the movie "Mama Mia" last Friday at AMC Theater. The movie was ok. But I liked the songs a lot. It is based on a musical show in Vegas. It is starred by Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and some other stars. There was a lot of corny scenes in the movie which I thought-- was weird. It was all about "Abba" songs. Overall, the movie was OK and good for those audiences that like musical show.

The Dark Knight

We watched "The Dark Knight" on Saturday. We went to the theater early at 9:20am because the movie will start at 10am. My husband went to get popcorn and water. So, I went ahead so we can have seats. When I went inside the cinema, I surprised to see a lot of people already waiting for the show. I didn't expect that people actually went there early. My husband was really excited to see this movie as it got good reviews. Fortunately, we got seats and had some popcorn. The movie, however, was violent but not bloody. The Joker was very mean. There was a lot of plots --you really have to pay attention, which is a type of movie where you have to watch it twice to get to the point. The movie lasted for two hours and 30 minutes. There were flaws and drama in the movie; they made complicated nearly at the end. But I would say that Heath Ledger really did his job well in this movie. Overall, I liked this movie though I liked the first one better.

Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang!

I just watched the classic and musical movie, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". I thought it was a very good movie for family. I really liked the songs too. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was made in 1968 and was based on Ian Fleming (author of James Bond) and was produced by Albert Broccoli (the producer of James Bond). The movie starred Dick Van Dyke. I would like to get a dvd of this movie from Amazon.com.

Hancock movie

We watched the movie"Hancock" at the Theater last Saturday. I was surprised by the movie. I thought it was going to be funny the whole time. I would say the movie has a lot of cussing and it's not good for the kids. It has a lot of twists. It did not really explain why Hancock became a crappy and jerk superhero. But then, Hancock became serious. I didn't really understand where he came from. In fairness, Will Smith has portrayed his role very good in this movie and so did, Charlize Theron. I thought she looked better in this movie than she ever did before. Well, I guess, you have to see it for yourself. And let's see what your judgment will be.

Wall-E

We saw Wall-E at AMC Theater last Saturday. I really liked it. The story was very good. I'd give thumbs up for this movie. The animation was very great. It almost looks real. Although, there is no a lot of talking in this movie, their actions are pretty comprehensible. The name of the cute robot was Wall-E and other robot was Eve. They were a perfect match. I had teary eyes at the end of movie. I would recommend this to all, from kids to adults. I am pretty sure, you, guys will like it. I will post more about this movie later.

Alvin and the Chipmunks

I watched the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks" on the dvd the other day. I was surprised because I thought it is going to be crappy and lousy. In fact, I really liked it. I remember when I was in elementary, I would go home right away after my class just to watch the four o'clock cartoon shows. And one of them was "Alvin, the Chipmunks". It was one of my favorite cartoons. I used to imitate Alvin's voice and I liked singing their version of "Jingle Bells". hehe They are just so cute to me.
