More than 10,000 sneakers were placed toe-to-heel in a courtyard in Washington, July 2 to create the longest chain of shoes in history, as certified by the Guinness World Records. The chain stretched nearly 1.65 miles. They set a world record for the longest chain of shoes to teach kids about recycling. A national children's magazine supported and subsidized the event.
